A studio in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture has been making and selling Obata Deko dolls, a local craft, since the early 1700s. Gengo Hosoi, a ninth-generation artisan, is the studio’s sole heir and legacy protector. This exhibition introduces the warmth, cuteness, and universal charm of these clay dolls.
