Riemon O-oka: Oumi’s Grandfather of Farming

Riemon O-oka (1832–1912) was born in what is today Shiga Prefecture’s Hiruta, Yasu City. He worked as an agricultural instructor and was awarded the Medal with Green Ribbon for his contributions to society in 1896. On the 120th anniversary of this honor, the Yasu Dotaku Museum reintroduces this man who dedicated his life to improving farming in Japan.
