This event has ended.

Presenting the works of Nihonga artist Rieko Morita. From traditional flower and bird paintings to portraits depicting high school girls’ fashion and other contemporary feminine images, Morita’s unconventional and vibrantly colorful works exude vitality. In 2007, at the request of the head of Shokoku Temple, she created a cedar door painting and a two-panel reception hall ceiling painting for Kinkaku-ji Temple. For the upcoming 10th anniversary of these works, this exhibition surveys Morita’s accomplishments as a master artist, displaying her cedar door painting along around 120 works from the new series “Kawaii Gitai,” which she unveiled in October, 2015, and are shown in Kyoto for the first time.
