The Pleasure of Collecting:Inbande Plates and Asian Kites

The Inbande Plates exhibition showcases about 1,000 plates that a collector in Osaka enthusiastically accumulated for 30 years. These plates were made using a transfer printing method called “inbande” between the Meiji period and the early Showa period, and are characterized by having a variety of attractive patterns.
The Asian Kites exhibition will also show Mr. Kimura Kaoru’s collection of kites from various parts of Asia, which will intrigue visitors with their shapes and designs that represent local characteristics and trends of the times.
