Known as a master of the “Mingei” movement, Kanjiro Kawai (1890-1966), born in Yasugi City in Shimane Prefecture, devoted his life as a craftsman, always driving towards new expressions of material and form and coming to influence a whole generation of artists and craft producers. Here a large array of his acclaimed works are placed on display for all to see.
