This exhibition of some 160 works includes art from the National Museum of Western Art; some 90 works of painting, sculpture, tapestry, and furniture from the Matsukata Collection, given to museums around the world following Matsukata’s death; works from France by major artists such as Lautrec and Picasso, and Ukiyo-e from the Tokyo National Museum. Among the highlights of the show are Lautrec’s “Woman Seated in a Garden” from the Musée d’Orsay and Picasso’s “Woman Reading” from the Centre Pompidou.
