This event has ended.

Eisaku Wada (1874–1959) was a master of Japanese modern art along with the likes of Seiki Kuroda and Takeshi Fujishima. A leader in the world of painting during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras, he became a pillar of Western-style painting in Japan. This retrospective looks back on his 70 years of creative practice with around 80 of his works, including the skillful portraits of his early years, masterpieces that have gone down in the annuals of Japanese history, oil paintings of Mt. Fuji and roses (motifs throughout his career), plus sketches and drafts. This show illuminates the work of this singular Japanese oil painter.
