Yumeji Romanticism – Kobe Scenes and Travels Abroad
Kobe Fashion Museum
Tanabata Fujin Gurafu (July, 1926 issue)
This event has ended.
Poet and artist Yumeji Takehisa embodied Taisho-era Romanticism. It is a little known fact that he lived in Kobe while he was young and found himself intoxicated with the charm of the international city, a formative experience that solidified his decision to become an artist. Surely the exotic, sophisticated works of his late years were influenced by his time in Kobe. This exhibition presents some 200 works from his Sketches from the West series, including portraits of dancers, folding screens, and original prints.
