Since 1998, the museum has focused on exhibiting works related to the history and culture of Omi (present-day Lake Biwa area), especially Buddhist art. The museum's collection includes items that have been recognized on national and prefectural levels of their significance in Japanese culture. These items will be on display and rotate according to the museum's schedule. In addition, special modern Japanese painting exhibitions are held on the third floor.
