The kite is a toy that flies in the sky, and is a common activity for children during the New Year season. Japanese kites have sophisticated structures that allow them to fly very well. In addition, the kites have strong aesthetic elements and incorporates different styles of folk art such as "nishiki-e" and "musha-e".
This exhibition features approximately 100 works from around Japan, ranging from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
