This event has ended.

Gansen temple is famous for placing Hongan temple when Hideyoshi Toyotomi had power between 1583 and 1585. It was the central temple within the Kaizuka temple boundaries, and was commonly referred the "Kaizuka Gobo."
The Gansen temple is noted for its many possessions, for instance, in 2003, there were 23 groups of paintings that were categorized as cultural heritage items for the city of Kaizuka. During the early period, since the Jodo Shinshu sect in Honganji temple (Kyoto city) was divided into two conflicting sects, temples were condemned to take one side or the other. However, Gansen temple was one exception and was still under the possession of both the east and west. Thus, the temple has possessed portraits of both masters of each sect.
The city of Sakai, Gansen temple and Kaizuka temple's boundaries, have a very close history. This exhibition introduces both the historical and cultural relationships established between Kaizuka and Sakai, with the cooperation of Honganji temple.
