This event has ended.

During the Taisho and early Showa periods, the people who wore western European influenced clothing and walked around Shinsaibashi and Ginza were called "Modern Girl" and "Modern Boy". The modern girl and boy stood out in comparison to the majority who wore kimonos. Inspired by famous scenes from the novels, Junichiro Tanizaki's "Sasameyuki (Fine Snow)" and Aya Kohda's "Kimono", this exhibition features the Japanese clothes culture and stylish kimono from the Kobe and Hanshin area. By comparing and studying the different kimono cultures between east and west, this exhibition sheds light on Japan's famed culture from different perspectives.
