Nanga (Southern painting) or Bunjinga (literati painting) is a type of Japanese painting style that pays an homage to Chinese art. The style flourished among Japanese artists who considered themselves intellectuals since the Edo period. Among them, Chikuto Nakabayashi and Baiitsu Yamamoto from Nagoya were the major figures. This exhibition features these two painters' works from the museum collection.
