"The Red of Tamba" Exhibition
The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo
This event has ended.
From the late Heian period to the contemporary, the Tamba firing method has been used by various artists for 800 years. The method itself has changed throughout the times by incorporating technological advances. During the Edo period, the Akadobe was invented to create red-tinted ceramics. The technique itself uses soil that contains iron and after the clay is fired, the pigmentation appears. The exhibition focuses on the Akadobe and the colorful harmony that it creates.
