William Merrell Vories Exhibition

William Merrell Vories (1880-1964) resided and worked in Ohmi Hachiman. During the summers, he would live in Karuizawa and expanded his architecture business with the help of Christian missionaries. Now, Vories's works can be seen all over Japan as well as overseas, and are still in heavy use. His works are based on Christian faith, focusing on simplicity and utilitarianism.
The exhibition focuses on exploring Vories' conceptual process through photographs, videos, models and other reference sources. In addition, a life size replica of the hut in Karuizawa will be on display.
