This exhibition features scientific reference illustrations by Yonekichi Makino (1900-1987), a pioneer of the field. He had drawn about 30,000 illustrations throughout his life for books like the Kojien, Jean-Henri Casimir Fabre's 'Social Life in the Insect World', Japonica encyclopedia, book of animal illustrations, textbooks and treatise. He also completed many illustrations for children's books like those by Bianki Vitali.
This exhibition introduces about 1000 works of Yonekichi's famous miniatures as well as his Japanese paintings, illustrations, designs, and related references.
