"Ancient Kawachi Temples and Shrines" Exhibition
Osaka Prefectural Chikatsu-Asuka Museum
This event has ended.
During the mid 6th century, Buddhism came in to Japan via the Asian continent. The religion flourished and many temples were built especially in Nara and Kawachi (an area covering southeastern Osaka). Eventually both cities had almost an equal number of temples. Also, because Kawachi was known as the gateway to Nara, many clansmen resided and contributed in establishing the nation, religion and government.
The exhibition will feature artifacts that have remained throughout the years from the ancient temples.
