"Heaven and Hell of Buddhism -the World of the Six Realms-" Exhibition

In the midst of natural disasters and rampant warfare, people during the Heian period developed faith towards Pure Land Buddhism. The exhibition will feature artwork that emerged during this period. Approximately 25 works will be on display, featuring paintings of the six realms (the six stages until rebirth in Buddhist cosmology), and paintings of Raigo (the arrival of Amitabha to take one to the Pure Land) that will introduce visitors to the world of Buddhist "heaven" and "hell."
