Alternative comics are experimental comics that transcend the framework of traditional comic's images and format. The German comic scene has produced many alternative cartoonists. Compared to Japan, the artist's individuality is emphasized more than whether or not the artist creates a specific type of cartoon catered to different demographics. This phenomenon has contributed and encouraged the development of a diverse group of alternative cartoonists.
This exhibition features works by three imaginative and fresh alternative comics artists, including works that were created during a residency in Kyoto.
