Masataka Kurose "Symposion"
Itohen Books Gallery Coffee
This event has ended.
Kurose paints the subjects that look like humans, animals or something in between. What is certain, however, is that these creatures show lively energy that provides the strength to endure uncertainties of the real world.
When painting on glass, the specialized paints contain a transparent and slippery texture, which makes it difficult to handle compared to regular paint. However, these characteristics appeal to Kurose who sees the action of painting a synonym with "handling reality".
Using Automatism, a painting technique that visualizes unconsciousness, his colors slide wildly all over a surface of the paintings.
