This event has ended.

While China has a long history of manga comics, Japanese-style graphic novels have only entered the culture since the middle of the 1990s, meaning that China is a country with a newly found interest in this genre. However, recently, as the nation makes progress in its politics and education, people with a background in traditional techniques are turning to manga, developing and making great achievements in the field.
On the other hand, Hong Kong, since the time of British rule, has created a manga culture distinct from that of mainland China. Manga artists have been writing their works focusing on the traditional Chinese themes of gallantry and warrior-like heroism, starting up small publishing houses and releasing work after work, creating a unique manga industry.
