This event has ended.

For part 2 of the series, Noriyasu Fukushima's "Painting no. 2" (1983) and "Gold Painting (Pine Tree)" (1984) will be on display.
Fukushima was born in 1940, and studied sculpture in Kyoto. During the 1980s, after a succession of studying abroad and developing his career, he began questioning his identity. One day, Fukushima encountered an interesting scene; from the window of his atelier in Ine, he saw many Japanese tourists staring in awe at the pine tree from Maizuru. This sight eventually inspired the artist to produce works that deal with Japanese identity by using pine.
The exhibition features the two works that were created during this time.
