Trees De Mits Exhibition
The Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park
This event has ended.
In the summer of 2004, Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park's artist in residence Trees De Mits, drawing inspiration from Japan's landscape and culture, became immersed in putting that into something concrete. Many years since, she has continued to exhibit works of living creatures' organs and bones: for De Mits, the Japanese kneaded-chrysanthemum technique of "Navel" is a conceptualization of birth; the red of a shrine torii gate is present in the corporeal "Blood"; the white of Shino Yu is in "Skin". This exhibition will showcase her four years of molding Japan into clay forms.
