"Manga" (comics) is now a universal word and has reached the point where it is read by men and women, young and old. In recent times it has continued to develop, overcoming the simple boundaries of consumerist media to become a separate cultural entity. The content and genre of manga ranges from archetypal action comics to historical tales, love stories, and documentaries.
This exhibition focuses on the "frame", the essential component of a comic. As manga has evolved, so also has the concept of the "frame" broadened. Initially showing just absolute chronological direction, the "frame" now has numerous uses, staging unimaginable time changes, a method for drawing the landscape of the mind. Photographic series art works can also be seen as a technique that includes the manga "frame" component. By integrating the separate frames together and showing them as one work, a new dynamic is born.
