"What's 'Kurin Modern'? - Art by Challenge People" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Contemporary Art Space Osaka
Media: Painting, Sculpture, Crafts
The six artists exhibiting in this show all have autism or other disabilities. Should they be known as "outsider" artists? Are we allowed to call them "artists," despite their lack of art education? There is nothing to be done about it, having no opportunity to undertake appropriate education, being called an "outsider" artist is a curse they cannot escape. There is one thing these people can do. Through their art they can show to society the category they have been placed in, and their different values and consciousness. "Kurin Modern" is a space where the challenged can learn art and design.
