This event has ended.

Galerie Maison D’art presents an exhibition for Shinko Okuhara, a primarily Tokyo-based artist. Okuhara uses acrylic paints, ballpoint pens, collage techniques, and a variety of materials to portray the landscapes and greenery she comes across in Japan and abroad. She transposes sounds, smells, seasons, temperatures, conversations, and other everyday encounters into colors and shapes. The delicate lines found in all her works convey both her abundant skill as an artist and the intense gaze she focuses on her subjects. Through the arrangement of margins in her drawings and her bold yet sublime use of acrylic paints, her works evoke a sensibility uniquely her own.

“La promenade” is Okuhara’s first solo exhibition in Osaka and her most recent in the city since a group show at graf media in 2006. It features new works including flower and plant landscapes, a subject that has fascinated her for several years. Some 25 diverse pieces including F50-size acrylic paintings, color ballpoint pen drawings on paper, flower illustrations on cards, and small copperplate prints, a recent area of interest, are on display and for sale. This show is an opportunity to see much-discussed works that until now have only been shown only in Tokyo and overseas.
