Osaka developed as the “City of Water” - its waterways playing a crucial role in the social and economic life of the city since ancient times. This exhibition of Kamigata Ukiyo-e, or Ukiyo-e woodblock prints made in Osaka and which most commonly took subjects from Kabuki theatre, focus on depictions of the city’s waterscapes.
