Exhibition of woodblock prints by Kana Hasegawa, that take women as their subject, but while reminiscent of the Ukiyo-e style, are unlike the Bijinga (portraits of beautiful women), in that they do not reflect contemporary ideals of beauty. The women in Hasegawa’s works, rather, seem to be a plea to society to allow women be themselves and live without the pressures of conforming to such ideals.
