Kyoto artist Kiwanami’ s paintings are characteristically graphic, consisting of simplified figures and backgrounds rendered in thick black lines and flatly applied colors. This exhibition of Kiwanami’s new works reflects a change in style: a sense of imbalance between the figures and the background they stand against, as well as a greater spatial depth.
