Kenji Ohmachi has developed a long career in lacquer work with the use of opal. In the historic tradition of makie, images were often formed from mother of pearl, but in his original technique Ohmachi incorperates Kyoto opal to create vibrant diverse designs, cutting out a new horizon in the field of traditional arts. In this exhibition enter a new world of Kyoto opal makie lacquer work.
