Chu Asai and Decorative Art
Kyoto Institute of Technology, Arts and Crafts Resource Museum
This event has ended.
An exhibition of the painter, Chu Asai, focussing on two works created towards the end of his life, during which time he was a professor at Kyoto School of Arts and Crafts of the Kyoto Institute of Technology. The works, which include “Hunting Warrior Scene” (1905) hung in the Imperial Household Ministry and later become the design for a tapestry, reflect a new decorative style that melded realism and art nouveau.
