This event has ended.
The 50 years between the late 16th Century to early 17th Century marked a historic moment of change and upheaval as Japan moved from the middle ages towards the modern age and was characterized by an uprising of the people, reaching for political and economic power. A leading figure of this time was the daimyo Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who was also the founder of Kodaiji itself. This exhibition features portraits of this great leader, along with Bodhisattva statues and other artifacts from the Momoyama era.
