This event has ended.

Exhibition of paintings, glasswork and other crafts dating to between the 17th-19th centuries, a time when although Japan enacted a policy of isolation, exchange with the rest of East Asia was vibrant in Nagasaki and the Ryukyu Islands (present day Okinawa). This exhibition addresses Chinese and Japanese perspectives on the West, how Japan responded when the Qing Dynasty in China came to a close, and the role of the Ryukyu islands as a bridge between Japan and China.
