The Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art established its permanent collection as a public art museum in the prewar years and has continued to hold exhibitions of these works ever since. This exhibition raises and attempts to answer questions such as, “How should art museum collections be formed?” and “How should art museums collect the works of today? It displays around 110 works from the collection in five categories: Nihonga painting, Western painting, sculpture, crafts, and prints.
