Born in 1938 in Himeji and studying under Takeshi Hayashi and Kaoru Yamaguchi at Tokyo University of the Arts, Shingo Imai went on to become an active member of the Dokuritsu Bijutsu Association, and after winning the Showa Group Prize he spent 1 year in Paris and Venice with the support of the ministry of culture. Since 1994 he has actively featured his work at Takashimaya Art Gallery and this exhibition provides a wide introduction to his work covering early years to most recent productions, featuring nudes, landscapes, still lifes and portraits.
