This event has ended.

Sennorikyu, who was born in Sakai, is known in Japan and abroad as a master of the tea ceremony. This exhibition, which commemorates the Dec. 25th release of the film “Sennorikyu ni tazuneyo” (Calling on Sennorikyu), explores the lives of Sakai residents in Sennorikyu’s age. It is divided into two parts: “The People Around Sennorikyu,” which looks at the writings of his disciples, and “The Cultural Figures of Sakai in the Early Modern Era,” which focuses on Sakai’s cultural figures from Sennorikyu’s day through the early Edo era. This exhibition is for anyone interested in Sennorikyu or the place where he was born.
