Exhibition of Japan-born North Korean artist Nam HyoJun’s portrait series of some of the most influential figures of the 20th century. With the deaths of several tyrannical leaders, including Kim Jong Il in 2011, and the collapse of dictatorships around the world, his most recent paintings depict a filtered appearance of iconic portraits and propaganda imagery. Indeed, the figures here are abstracted in mosaic-like images made up of hexagons.
