After graduating from the short course of Musashino Art University Tomohiro Takagi came to live and work in Kyoto in 1997 and has since continued to present his work primarily across the two cities of Tokyo and Kyoto. Having a particular interest in animals and animal illustrations from a young age, nature has always been an important reference for Takagi, particularly heightened by his experiences when he traveled to Papua New Guinea in 1994, a trip which awakened him to the division of the human and natural world in modern society. This exhibition reflects on this polarization of here and there and attempts to weave them together, emphasizing how one can not exist without the other.
