This event has ended.

As on one of the leading figures of modern Japanese art Kaoru Yamaguchi worked across a time of great change between the pre-war and post-war periods, coming to combine collage and oil painting into a unique expression. Taking familiar motifs of horses, cows, dogs and his own daughter he moved between the line of figurative and abstract painting to create an impressive sense of poetry. Hi final work “Children Dancing Around the Faint Moon” seems to capture both this world and the next in an eternal space which reaches beyond life and death. This exhibition presents a careful selection of 70 oil paintings, water colors and poems in a commemoration of 45 years since the artist’s death.
