Takeuchi Seiho - The Master of Modern Nihonga

Born in Kyoto, Seiho Takeuchi (1864-1942) was an artist who succeeded in the major role of modernizing Nihonga. Takeuchi was able to incorporate his experiences studying and traveling abroad in western Europe in the Meiji period in his sketches based on life and ideas. A great artist instrumental in founding this museum, Takeuchi represents its collection. This exhibition brings together approximately 100 major works from several collections and approximately fifty other materials, allowing visitors to enjoy Takeuchi’s art and appreciate his significance.
