Like the railway, books are an integral part of modern culture. The theme of the third arts festival focusing on the creativity of the railway is “books as artistic expression through words.” Produced by editor and culture researcher Seigo Matsuoka, the festival looks at the diverse aspects of books, introducing the words, publications, and famous products found along the Keihan line, which links the Kamigata area’s centers of culture. Matsuoka and other wordsmiths will spend two months creating works inspired by what they find at the 46 Keihan Electric Railway stations. The event will also feature guest lectures and workshops.
