Taisei Sato had the remarkable ability to capture the singular moment of wonder when we come to encounter beauty in nature and freeze it in his nihonga work in a state of eternity. This exhibition pays tribute to his impressive career, marking 100 years since his birth, with a celebration of the skill and energy of his work which even came to define a new genre of nihonga in the combination of flowers, birds and landscapes.
Drawing upon the collection of the Fukuchiyama City Sato Taisei Memorial Art Museum, along with loans from private collections and art museums around the country, this exhibition feature 70 examples of Sato’s work, including that never publically displayed until now.
