Buddhist Stone Sculpture of the Northern Wei Dynasty

An exhibition of stone Buddhist sculpture dating to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). It is believed that the stone sculpture of this period is the finest to have been made during the entire history of Buddhism. Through 60 pieces in both the museum’s collections and the Yamaguchi Collection, the exhibition addresses the characteristics of Buddhist sculpture by region.
