This event has ended.

For every artist, a museum of his or her own is a very special space that cannot be compared to other museums. In this special museum, various elements such as the artist and his or her works, art works and the space, or the space and the artist come together to constitute a unique space.

For this exhibit, each of the 12 students from the Takeyama Laboratory at Kyoto University has chosen an artist who is energetically creating their work in the modern art scene. Under the title of “Art and Architecture,” these students exhibit an individual museum they have designed for each artist using models and panels. They interviewed the artists and interpreted their art works in the contexts of their surroundings, the artist’s personality, and their perspectives. Then, based on these interviews, they explored the potential of creating an architectural work to represent the “Response” to their view of each artist and his or her work.

By looking at the 12 uniquely designed individual museums, visitors will be led to the realization that just as there are many different types of artists who create unique works, there are many ways to create an architectural work that holds art works inside.
