Ayako Matsumura “Out of Sight”

Using a technique known as “tsuzure ori”, Ayako Matsumura creates richly colored weavings in the shape of women’s bodies that contain both pure and impure elements. At last year’s Ogaki Biennale, models bedecked in Matsumura’s creations strode through the streets, shaking up society’s morals in their nude-looking second skins. This exhibition presents several works with facial parts as motifs.
