This exhibition traces the artist path of contemporary ceramicist Tadayasu Sasayama, displaying works of his that have influenced the contemporary ceramics world and local Shigaraki ware. Shigaraki ware, a mainstay of Japanese ceramics, originated in Shiga Prefecture. The exhibition also introduces other postwar contemporary artists with works from the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Shiga, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Some 100 examples of Sasayama’s contemporary ceramics from the 1960s through recent works are on display.
