Born in Kyoto in 1940 Yukio Mizushima moved to Toyooka in his childhood and lived here for several decades. Since studying under the Maruyama school of nihonga he has continued to produced a vivid array of kimono patterns, sliding door paintings and autonomous art works, filled with images of nature’s wilderness, moving the viewers heart with a single stroke of the brush. This exhibition features 140 examples of his wide ranging work also accompanied by 15 paintings from his eldest son Isshu Mizushima.
