This event has ended.

Katsuragi clan were a powerful family in the late 4th century, connected to the Emperor through marriage and possessed of a land which stretched across what is now the western part of Nara, with one renowned member of this family, Nozotuhiko Katsuragi, also appearing in documents from the Korean peninsula. Through offering his daughter as a consort to the Emperor Nintoku, Nozotuhiko enjoyed a powerful position engaging in business throughout the country and the surrounding region. However the fortunes of the Katsuragi family did not last long as the Emperor was succeeded by Yuryaku and the Katsuragi land was absorbed first by the Soga clan and then by the kingdom itself. This exhibition follows the rise and fall of this influential family through various artifacts dug from the ancient tombs of the Katsuragi region.
