Izumi: Lineage of Kings
Osaka Prefectural Museum of Yayoi Culture
This event has ended.
Yayoi culture with roots in southwestern Osaka’s Izumi area transformed ancient society by increasing productivity, strengthening ties between villages, and giving rise to kingdoms and royal power. Through examples of archeology that reflect societal conditions, such as the enormous moat settlements of the Yayoi period and the tombs and ancient Imperial graves of the subsequent Kofun period, this exhibition provides insight into questions such as, “How did ancient people overcome instability in their world?” and “How did they govern themselves.” It is the first in a series using archeology to examine Osaka, the cradle of royal power in ancient Japan.
