Nobuyoshi Sakai’s first solo exhibition at Takashimaya in five years presents new works of various sizes, including flower paintings and still lifes. Sakai does not simply paint his subjects as they are, but instead recreates compositions of memory fragments, colors, fragrances, and impressions. His imagined landscapes works blur the line between representational and abstract painting.
